Advances in technology and communications are changing and challenging the food industry. This week we were invited to speak, at a Voka Plato International Food session, about digital trends in the food industry and key enablers for innovation in food systems such as Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence.
Taking the example of FoodWatch, a Smart Food Quality Management System integrated in the food safety program of Dubai Municipality developed by Science Tribune NV, an SME from Overpelt, we discussed how Digital Platforms, IoT and Predictive Analytics can be used to optimize food quality and safety throughout the food chain.
Oehoe Data Science is involved in this project as Science Tribune’s partner in Operations Management and in the application of Data Science to turn data into valuable information and insights, and develop predictive analytics models for food-related risks within this risk-based integrated system, to respond and manage food safety risks along the entire food chain, from production to consumption (farm to fork) ensuring the supply of safe food to consumers.
